Our topic was about Antarctica this week. Firstly, I liked our text a lot. It reminded me penguins. They are so fabulous. In addition, the text made me think global warming again. Also I was considered about animals which die because of unsuitable weather conditions. Scientists have to prevent them from being extinct. I think tourism must be restricted in Antarctica, because I believe that people damage and pollute wherever they go. Secondly, I am happy to learn existence of treaties. I haven’t known if there are so many treaties. In this case, some people treasure Antarctica and its animals. Lastly, I think none of the countries own Antarctica. It just belongs to people who love it.
YanıtlaSilWe read Chapter 10 in reading class last week.It was mainly about Antarctica.Actually,I was absent on Tuesday, but it did not create a problem for me.Fortunately, the text was not too long and it was understandable. The author mentioned about his experience in Antarctica.I understood from the passage that almost everyone was concerned over Antarctica. For example, tourist prize the chance to visit Earth’s last frontier, environmentalists fear that jeopardize its fabulous creatures, and others want to consume it because of the oil and mineral reserves. In my opinion,we should protect the natural balance, and we shoul not damage to Antarctica. We can allow some scientific harmless researchs in a small area. Also, some animals can survive only in Antarctica. They are very important for food chain.Living in there for people does not provide an advantage except science because the author stated that there is not a single village or town, not a tree or bush.It is the coldest, driest and the highest continent. On the other hand,it has an important effect. Its vast ice fields reflect sunlight back into space, that’s why the planet is prevented from overheating. It is the most significant point for me because if we cause it to melt, the sea levels might rise 200 feet.It means that we might experience a huge and frigid flood because I guess 200 feet equals to 60 meter.Next,Antarctic Treaty and the Madrid Protocol is stated in the passage. They protect Antarctica,so I liked both of them.Unfortunately, they could not be accepted by all countries.I wish there would not be a single country from non-treaty countries.Antarctica was acknowledged as a continent for science and peace, and people can visit there.I believe that it belongs everyone and we are responsible for preserving it.Finally,we should teach these informations and Antarctica’s attributes to new generation because only if we do that,we can provide the continuation of humanity and world’s resources. :)
YanıtlaSilThis week's topic was amazing. It was an easy and enjoyable text. There are lots and lots of substantial information. For instance, Antarctica doesn't belong to any countries; I hadn't known this information before I read the passage. The other one, the attributes of the continent like the coldest, driest, and highest continent. Also, it is interesting that there is a big conflict between scientists, tourists and oil seekers. I learned that we had to protect that irresistible continent and give enough importance because it is unique.
YanıtlaSilWe read a passage about Antartica. I didn't like it so much, because it was boring for me. Although it wasn't my thing, I learned that Antartica doesn't belong to any country. That's all for this week.
YanıtlaSilOur topic was Antarctica in this week. First of all, I like this passage. Although I don’t like historical things, and also this text is related with some historical event I enjoyed while we were reading it. According to text The National Science Foundation (NFS) is the government agency responsible for the U.S. stations in Antarctica. Because of the continent’s extreme cold and almost complete isolation, the NSF considers it to the best place to study and understand such phenomena, and glacial history. I learned from this text that until scientists began the first serious study of the continent during the 1957-58 international geophysical year, a multicounty cooperative research project, Antarctica was dismissed as a vast, useless continent. Also I learned many vocabularies like sovereignty, glacial, annex, commercial, mast, ice cliff etc… See you (=
YanıtlaSilAntartica is the coldest place in the world. It also very intersting continent. When we look at it we see just ice, but when we look under the iceberg we'll see a different situation. There isn't only ice under Antartica, there are also oil and mineral.Different kinds of people have different expectations from that area.Tourists want to see that area freely, some people want to get the mineral and oil etc. There are some kinds of animals that lives in Antartica. They can live in there but we can't.There is a biological reason behind that. And also this piece of land is not anyone's.It protected by a group of countries.
YanıtlaSilThis week, our topic was Antarctica. First of all, I want to tell you my knowledge about Antarctica. It is too cold. There are a lot of animals there. Also, there are a lot of large ice fields. This continent doesn't belong any countries. Secondly, I have learnt some new information about Antarctica from this week's text . For example, there are a lot of oil and mineral reserves there. Finally, this weeks's text was boring because there was a lot of informatin about Antarctica. Some of them was unnecessary. Also, the text didn't have any funny things. I didn't like it at all. I hope I never read a text like this.
YanıtlaSilLast week, our topic was "Antarctica:Whose Continent Is It?" I think that the text was wonderful. In the text,we can not only benefit from information about the continent's unique attributes, but also learn some people's opinions and aims about the land. For example;scientists, tourists, environmentalists or oil and mineral seekers. I think all of them can damage this natural continent's creatures easily. This inhospitable continent has very beneficial effects on life.I haven't known that its ice fields reflect sunlight back into space to prevent overheating.I think it is very important because if the ice begans to melt, sea levels might rise very high feet. Also,I haven't known the signing of the Madrid Protocol and an international agreement which is Antarctic Treaty. It said that Antarctica was the continent for science and peace. I think the tourists and oil and mineral seekers should not be permitted to come to the Antarctica. All countries should be aware of this important continent and protect it from any kind of damage, not try to become the owner of it.
YanıtlaSilGood night, everyone! I'm really happy because we began to Science and Technology Unit. Last week, the first passage is about Antarctica. I have already watched some documentaries about it. It was a really interesting place. First of all,it is an independent continent. According to the passage, some countries declared a protocol called Madrid Protocol to protect its nature because it is also vital for human beings. For example,Antarctica prevents the world from overheating due to the reflection of sunlight from vast ice fields to the space. Besides, flows which are generated by icebergs create complex climate patterns. In my opinion,Antarctica is an intact area on the world and it is home of many species such as penguins, whales, and so on. I think it should be protected against harmful external factors because they damage its natural life. For example, some ships can damage Antarctica with their oil, ballast water or trash. This situation damages not only the inhabitans live in Antarctica, but also all mankind,so the countries all around the world should take dissuasive precautions. The more cleaner Antarctica, the larger and healthier life for mankind.
YanıtlaSilWe read a text about Antarctica.I think this place is really interesting, because its ground consists from just ice.Because of this reason, any plants cannot survive there.Even though,it is covered by ice on the basement level there are lots of oil and mineral reserves. These reserves cause some politic issues. Some country had agreement about what they will do with this place. They have decided to not using for commercial exploitation.People are using there just for scientific research and pleasure trip travels.İn addition, this place is under danger of global warming. If it get damaged,it will be cause a lot of bad situation.

YanıtlaSilThe things I read about were really fabulous because it provided lots of opportunities to learn information about Antartica. The other reason why I think so is that The author explained the whole text tremendously . First of all, he mentioned people who have conflicting ideas about Antartica and their purposes to discuss about it. According to their ideas, each of them are right, but they had better think broadly and realize the truth. However, we can’t blame them because everyone can easily lured by this irresistible continent. Secondly, he explained the structural characteristics of Antartica. As everyone knows, it has inhospitable climate, icebound places, and high winds. On the other hand, I guess most people don’t know that this content reflects sunlight back into space, produces clouds, and teems the equatorial warm water with cold water. Finally, he touched on some agreements that nations signed to prevent the exploitations of the natural resources. Thus, proponents of exploitation have to set aside all claims of sovereignty.
YanıtlaSilThis week our topic was Antarctica.Actually I have not more information about Antarctica until we had writen a creative writing about this topic last semester.Last week we learned several attributes of Antarctica.Such as,its climate condition, its biotope and etc.We discussed some questions'answers for exaple, while Antarctica is inhospitable why people want to visit there. Then we read different opinions about this question that they belong to some scientists, environmentalists tourists.
YanıtlaSilOther point was Antarctica's political status.Because any countries do not have Antarctica.I think it is very interesting,it has big oil and mineral reserves.Briefly Antarctica is the coldest place in the world, but it lures people with lots of attributes.
There are many reasans why Antarctica is very interesting continent. The text me realized that if there weren't any ice in Antarctica, it would be so dangerous for the World. Also, there are many different animals in this continent, and they are invaluable for humanity. If I were a rich man, I would go to Antarctica to research something interesting. Besides all of them, global warming is on the hand of poeple. We should know what activities harmful or not for the World. As a result, The world is so important.
YanıtlaSilThis week we talked about Antarctica, and we concentrate on a question that whose continent is Antarctica anyway? It was really interesting because we have not thought about it. Whose continent is? It was certain that Antarctica was not ours. After a bit discussion, we read the text. In that text, author mentioned his own experience related with there. He continued with some scientific details in text. Besides, he told us its history. In addition, this text was interesting for me because I did not know Antarctica is the best place to study. According to the text, the National Science Foundation had shown that Antarctica is unique for understanding such phenomena as temperature circulation in the oceans, unique animal life, ozone depletion, and glacial history. I enjoyed about the text. I liked it very much due to the fact that it was very clear, so easy to understand.
