To tell the truth, the topic of this week was a little boring. The vocabulary was difficult, so I had difficulty reading the text. On the other hand, the topic was instructive. I hadn't known the checks and balances before reading the passage. Also, I learned more details from the text about American History. My favorite part of the text is Checks and Balances. I was attracted by this part. Also, I noticed that the first thing the author underlines the system of government. After reading this text I wonder that if Turkey has a system of government like America's, what will happen? The structure of the text was very organized. The author wrote a good historical passage. However, if I were the author, I would give more attractive histories or events. It might have been a better passage I think.
YanıtlaSilDear Orkun, I am happy that you have learned new information from the text. In addition, no matter how difficult the text is, I am sure you can deal with it:)
SilOur reading class was about the federal system of government in last week.We learned a lot of information about establishment of the U.S. At the beginning it was too boring for me because I do not like history so much. Then I concerned because of Seda Teacher’s expression. She talked about eighth Henry and Boleyn Girl.It was amazing.Actually,I understood that a woman can impress a prince or a king strongly. :)If I start from the begining.America was discovered in 1492 and it provided new facilities and a new life to aboriginals.British started to g oto America for religious reasons. Then aboriginals established thirteen colonies.Population in America increased and different religious existed there.British people were taking high rate of taxes from the colonies. In 1775,the war against British domination began.By the way,The Continental Congress had no legal power,so legal governments were established in the states to replace colonial rule as the initial step.Americans wanted to keep their freedom, but The Congress did not have enough power. It could not solve any financial troubles. The war finished in 1783.Then,England admitted independence of thirteen colonies and the U.S.A was established in 1787.In addition,The Constitution was written.People did not want too strong or too weak central government. Each colony was individual. The system of checks and balances was found in order to solve this dilemma. There are three important branches in the U.S.A.They are legislature, executive, and judiciary.Their powers were made equal and I learned that if a bill will be a law,the Senate and the House of Representatives should approve it.In addition, the president can veto it once.I find this system democratic because people’s rights are guarded. To sum up,liberty is the most important thing to me.
YanıtlaSilDear Şebnem, this is a great blog entry. I am glad that you like historical stories because of my expression:) <3
SilHello, everyone!Last week,we read a passage that is related to the federal system of the United States.I think it is a redundant subject.I am not interested in federal and other types of administrative systems.Besides,we don't know our government system exactly.Anyway, this passage is present in our book and we have to read it:)In this passage,we've got a lot of information.Do you know that first people established a government in the U.S.A.?They were British, because they preferred religious freedom. They experienced a lot of arguments each other because of the system of the government, but the writers of the constitution gave the priority for a system of checks and balances. They believed that this system could protect the human rights. This system is based on three major branches of the state:the legisture, the executive, and the judiciary. It is written in the Constitution that these branches are equal and independent each other. In addition, there are many states in the U.S.A.(as far as I know there are 50) and they govern themselves. This system may suitable for the U.S.A. since it is really a big country. In contrast,if Turkey had this kind of system,we would face with some problems about autonomy. For this reason,I'm happy about our government system.
YanıtlaSilDear Atahan, I really appreciate how you approach to the matters :) In addition, I am very happy that you have learned the text by heart.
SilWe read a historical text about the government of the United States. Its name is The federal System of Government. According to this passage, there was no central American government established by law when the war against British domination began. There was only the Continental Congress made up of men who believed in independence and who were willing to fight for their cause. It had some problems about colonial rule. It was without legal foundation, and it was necessary to establish some form of overall government agreed to by the people and speaking for all the states. Also I learned the system of checks and balances. There were three major powers: to make laws, to carry out those laws, and to provide justice under law for the best interests of the people which are the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. As a result, I learned lots of things about the government of the United States from this passage. While we were reading it, I enjoyed.
YanıtlaSilThis week our topic was 'The Federal System of Government'.In the text,we can see the process of birth of American present system of government.Firstly,I am not interested in history. Also,I didn't know many words in the text,so it was too difficult to read for me. However, when I read 'The Constitution' and 'The System of Checks and Balances' parts,I began to interest the topic. The writers of the Constitution wanted that people's rights are safe and guarded and nobody would become too powerful. To guard people's rights, the Constitution provided for three branches which are the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. The system balances the power between branches and checks them by the others.I liked these parts a lot.I think freedom is very important for everybody. Also,I liked the example of the check system which is about becoming of laws.It was beneficial to understand the system. In conclusion,I didn't know most of the information in the text, but while I was reading it,I found it good and beneficial.
YanıtlaSilFirst of all, I want to talk about the federal system of the United States. When I read the reading text, I realized that I had some wrong information about the United States. I thought that the White House was managing all the things, but it was totally wrong. I learnt the federal system from the text. There were a lot of states in America. In other words, the White House wasn’t managing everything. Secondly, the reading text was very informative. It included some useful information, and I think the author did a lot of researches before he had written his writing. We could have learnt everything about the United States from the text such as the federal system, independence story of America etc. I think we learnt them clearly, but there was a bad situation about the reading text. The subject was a little bit boring because it wasn’t one of my favorite subjects. Finally, I think the federal system is useful some countries suh as, America, but it can’t be useful for my country. If we had it, we would experience a lot of bad experiences, and people who are living in the east of my country wouldn’t be belong to Turkey. They would be independent.
YanıtlaSilLast week we talk about the federal system of government. We learnt some events and situations in american history,I think some points are very interesting for example, reason of people's emigration. When I heard this reason is about religion ,I was suprized.
YanıtlaSilWe know federal system more closely with our text. Then we compared federal government and central government, and discussed their advantages and disadvantages. For example I supported central government for equality before the law.Because in fedaral system each states have own laws ,so some laws cahange state to state and I think it is not equitable.Other important point local administration, in fedaral system it is very important and effective, but in central government it has not same status.Because it has a power and arbiter president in control of the country .Therefore local management in central system is more ineffectual than in fedaral system. For example there are 81 governers in Turkey but lots of people do not his or her name and what to do them.I think the most ideal system contains these two systems'advantages. There are same rules for all people in country and local administration is more important and powerful in order to govern to country.
Dream country America was our topic last week. The passage was very long but easy.So I was able to understand it easily than I was the others. The most important part of the passage was checks and balances. It reminds me of our system.Legislative, executive, and judicial are the steps of this checks and balances system. This system is functional for the country. These three main parts control eachother.Non of these can make the others weaker. That is the point.
YanıtlaSilWe read a text about the federal system of goverment last week. The text was really boring and too long.According to my classmates’ comments, they have the same mind with me.Also I am not interested in history.Anyway,I’ve learnt from this text that how and when did it come to be?And also why did they want to accept it?In 1775,after British domination had begun, there was no coordinate central American government system.People who live in this country wanted to have entire independented country and they could everything to reach their purpose whatever it had to be.Some government system had been tried, but it was either too weak or too solid to be indepented.Eventually, the Constitution of The United States was written in Philadelphia and still it is working. There are 50 states and they have similar rules with each other. Each states have liberty in their location, but they have to be dependent at central government. However,in our country we have different regima. There are representatives and governors. They discuss rules instead of citizens.I think our regima is more useful than United States’ regima.Because,in their system each states like different country.

YanıtlaSilThere are several reasons why the text is important for me. The first reason is the passage showed that U.S.A has very poor history than Turkey. I have just learn a lot of reality related to America and U.S.A. The author’s words made a picture in my mind that is people who are English established colonies in America, and after a hard progress they established U.S.A federal system. The text made me raalize how the system is useful. Unfortunately,it is no opportunity to apply this system in Turkey, it should have been done years ago, but it hasn't. For this reason, Turkey people have just realized many realities recently. My opinion that Ottoman Emipre is more important than U.S.A, and turkish people are clever, they can do all the things they want to do if they set them heart on doing it. :D Best regards .

YanıtlaSilThis week's topic was really interesting. I love to learn about history. They are really enjoyable. Our passage was long but it was easy and it became more interesting thanks to Seda teachers explanation. Also ı have learned a lot of information and vocabularies. I have learned that people established the U.S.A to be free or for their freedom. After that,I have learned about checks and balances system. Finally, I hope all the passages will be as enjoyable and interesting as this one.By the way, I'm sorry ı wrote late but it is not my fault.ıt is just because of some technical problems.:)
YanıtlaSilFirst of all, reading about history makes me think about something’s cause-effect relation. Thus, I can think outside the box. Secondly, If I had the chance to talk to the author of this text,I would ask him/her why did you write this text without a good explanation about the history of that event. I am sure I couldn't understand without our teacher's explanation. On the other hand, If we bury one’s head in the sand, this passage was enjoyable and easy to understand. I learned the real reason for people emigrating to America.
YanıtlaSilWe read a text about history and government of America this week. I can say that I like the text, because I learned a lot of information about both histories of America and England. I like to learn historical events if I don’t have to commit to memory the numbers. Therefore the text was interesting and enjoyable to me. In fact, it made me think about our checks and balances system, because this system is inadequate in some cases. Although the branches of this system have to do only their own duties, sometimes they may interlope each other. Thus, my favorite part was the system of checks and balances. To summarize, the text made me realize our issues.
YanıtlaSilI thought that this text would be very political at first, however when I read the passage, it changed my mind. This text was only about the federal system of the United States, including the independence story of America. As a matter of fact, the system did not attractive for me. It has several details, like the system of checks and balances prevents one branch of government from becoming too powerful. On the other hand, the story was very impressive. I liked it very much. Our teacher talked about it, and all of we listened her carefully. After that, I learned that the establishing of this government was pretty hard. Also, the first U.S. government did not have a president. According to the text, the United States’ present government began in 1787. As far as I remember, there were slaves at that time, and after a big fight, the government had took its position at the present. Now it has a freedom, and no slaves.
